English Prepositions in your esl class
My advice? Don’t use it. Instead, just launch into this simple but very effective ESL Prepositions PowerPoint. And hey – you can make a game out of it!
I can’t tell you how many times my students would miss these. And the really good students would miss them a lot as well.
Sometimes we call these small pieces of a sentence ‘articles,’ and it’s really important that students learn them early. It’ll be a dead giveaway that a student isn’t a native speaker when words like “in” and “at” are left off that college application letter.
All of the pictures in this PPT are just free samples, so you’ll see a little watermark on them. But really, you move through these slides so fast that it doesn’t really matter.
This first one has “in.” Yep, pretty simple, but that’s what your students need to learn this stuff for good.
There’s a whole series of slides that focus on where and how you can use the word “at,” like this one here:
Don’t be afraid to have them right each sentence out in their notebooks, writing in the correct answer. This will really kill time, but it’ll also reinforce the correct way to write those sentences. Believe me, if you’re grading, this is a big thing!
Altogether, this PPT has a whopping 82 slides, meaning you can really power through slide after slide, deadening the consciousnesses of your students so they’ll never misbehave again. Or at least you can get about 30 to 40 minutes out of it in class.
Whatever the case, check it out and see how it can work for you. Buy it now for $0.99 and have a great class!
