If you are – and you’re in Russia, China or Indonesia – then I have a free PowerPoint for you today.
It’s called “The Wrath of Khan,” and I made it back in 2012 when the new Trailblazers books came out. This is for Book 5 and it goes along with one of the chapters in the book.
Now, if you’re not an EF English First teacher then you can still use this. It has fun slides and choices. That means teams have to figure out if they want to do A, B or C. Two are bad and one is good, and sometimes people will die.
Let’s show some images and see if you can get a feel for it.
Alright, get your class into two teams. Boys and girls always worked best for me. After that there’s a listening round that details Khan’s early life, his childhood, how his parents were killed in a devastating spaceship landing incident on the planet Bieber. It’s tough stuff.
After the listening round you have to try and catch some of the kids, which are the good guys of the books. Yeah, Khan is the bad guy, so in this game you try to do bad guy things.
After that the game moves on and there’s some speaking rounds and some other slides. After a bit you get to this fun slide:
This really is a fun game and it lasts about 20 to 30 minutes. My students loved it and even if you’re not teaching at EF I know you can adapt it.
Good luck in class this week!
